Wholesale Packaging Buying Guide: How Much to Order & When
23 July 2026
Buying packaging wholesale saves money — but only if you order the right quantities at the right time. Over-order and you tie up cash and storage; under-order and you pay more per unit and risk running out. Here's how to get it right.
Work out your run rate
Track how many of each core item you use per week. That run rate is the basis for every ordering decision — multiply it by your reorder cycle to set order quantities.
Use bulk price breaks
Many packaging lines have tiered pricing: the more you buy, the lower the unit price. If a higher tier only means a few weeks' extra stock of a fast mover, it usually pays for itself. Check the price-break table on each product page.
Hit the free-delivery threshold
Consolidating orders to reach a free-delivery threshold (ours is £100) removes carriage cost entirely. Order slow movers alongside fast ones to reach it efficiently.
Set reorder points
- Set a minimum stock level for each core item.
- Reorder when you hit it — before you run out.
- Keep a small safety buffer for busy weeks.
